The Golden Gate Project

More than an art car

The Gate is the flagship of the Golden Gate Project — a mission to bring music, play, and connection to kids facing serious health challenges. When you support the Gate, this is what you're keeping alive.

What your gift does

Children's Hospital Silent Disco Bingo

The idea is simple and a little magic: kids in different rooms play the same game of bingo at the same time, each wearing colored strobe headphones tuned to the same channel. When a child wins, they get to repurpose their emergency call button for something joyful — pressing it to announce their own BINGO to the whole floor.

Before COVID, the team ran these days in person at children's hospitals, including Renown Children's Hospital in Reno. Since then the mission has adapted so the joy still reaches kids who need it — silent-disco dance parties at camps like the Nevada Diabetes Association's Camp Buck, and live-streamed bingo tournaments that connect kids wherever they are.

Music, camaraderie, and a little light in a hard place.

That's the heart the Gate was built with — and the heart she still runs on. Every burn, every party, every dusty mile is in service of getting that feeling to more kids.

Every dollar is a rivet.

Your gift helps rebuild and re-certify the Gate each year and funds the headphones, the parties, and the programs that carry her mission off the playa and into hospitals and camps.
